Just dropped in on your site for the first time.  Read your remark about onions burning your eyes when you chop them (in the bialys recipe).  I too have tried many things to prevent the inevitable crying when I chop onions.  Nothing worked satisfactorily until I read this tip somewhere.  Have you tried wearing safety glasses (don&#039;t laugh) or sunglasses (if they&#039;re fairly large ones)?  This usually works for me and now I am no longer teary-eyed.
