i stumbled on here looking for an apple bread recipe. while it was in the oven i looked over some of your other recipes, they all seem so delish! i totally agree with you on the kitchen gadget thing you don't really need them (although my wrists hurt very bad when i have mix by hand for too long or i bake everyday)! anyways, i really enjoyed this recipe, but i think next time i will be adding more cinnamon. all in all a winner in my book.

I have a TON of apples and have been looking for recipes to use them in all morning. This looks delicious!
Also, it's nice to see a recipe that makes one loaf, as I only have one loaf pan and like to bake all at once when I can ^^
I plan on starting this recipe within the hour!
Keep up the baking!

This was THE best apple bread I've ever made or eaten, and I am so glad I stumbled upon your blog. I will be making the banana bread tomorrow (and maybe another apple bread since I don't imagine it lasting very long). Thanks for sharing!

AWESOME Recipe, perfect way to use all those apples I have laying around and make my house smell amazing. I hope it turns out. Normally my dough is a lot more "loose" this was really a strong dough when it went into the pan. Thanks again!

I gave this recipe a try and it was very good. I baked them as large muffins instead of bread so I could just pull one out and eat for breakfast. I only baked them for about 20 minutes in extra large muffin tins.

So, I've been trying out all kinds of recipes on this site. I finally made this today. I used 1 cup of yogurt in place of the butter. Maybe I should have only used half a cup. I also added nutmeg, cloves, ginger, and cardamom to the cinnamon; I know - overload. Either way, the bread is cooling now. I'm sure it's going to be yummy because it smells soooo divine!

Great recipes! I used to be a professional baker, and so I have strong feelings about using icky non-food stuff like shortening in breads and crusts. So nice to see someone using traditional simple ingredients.

Hi Pete!

The apple bread looks great. And speaking of apples, and due to the fact that we have new neighbors as residents of DC (our new First Family), I wanted to send you a link to Michelle Obama's recipe for Apple Cobbler:

http://www.yankeemagazine.com/recipes/search/onerecipe.php?number=12645

I haven't tried it out yet, but I'd be interested in knowing your thoughts if you decide to bake one. Thanks, Doug
