scenes from the maine avenue fish market
if you live in dc and you’ve never been to the maine avenue fish market (1100 maine avenue SW), for shame! you’re going to want to get there this weekend. people from all over the city come to get fresh seafood, or just pick up something there to eat. i’ll let the rest of the pictures speak for themselves, but i’ll say that the crab cakes are excellent, as are the hush puppies.
what are you waiting for? go! go! go!

I aim to go to Maine one day and have their famous seafood. In the meantime, I’ve got your fantastic photos to gawk at!
I don’t like much seafood but I do like fried crabcakes. About the only fish I will eat is grouper or flounder. I live in an area where I could get fresh shrimp right off the boat if I wanted it but I do not care for it except if it is fried.

The first pic is incredible! Funny part, though, is that whenever I think of fish I think of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and Napoleon Dynamite. Delicious bass.
We love the fish market and have been going there for years. I always feel like so many people don’t even know that it exists.
We especially like to go on a crisp fall day and eat a steaming cup of clam chowder.
Don’t forget their oysters! It’s like $10/dozen and they shuck them right in front of you. Delicious.
One of my favorite weekend outings is to this market. Nice photos man.
